The Whispers of Dawn to Dusk

Pianist Camila De Oliveira and flautist Yune-Sang Yune formed their duo in 2024, when they first collaborated for Yune-Sang’s master’s degree recital at the University of Auckland. Since then, they have performed together in Auckland and Whitianga, with upcoming engagements including concerts in Dargaville, Maungaturoto, and Te Awamutu. Their repertoire spans from Schubert’s Variations on “Trockne Blumen” and Prokofiev’s Flute Sonata to works by Liebermann and many other composers.

Yune-Sang Yune – Flute

Yune-Sang Yune is a Korean-Kiwi flautist who completed her Master’s degree with First Class Honours under the tutelage of Luca Manghi. Born in Seongnam, South Korea, Yune-Sang began playing the flute at the age of nine and was instantly captivated by its warm, silvery tone.

As a rising soloist, she has performed with the St Matthew’s Chamber Orchestra, Manukau Symphony Orchestra, and Love and Peace Chamber Orchestra. In October 2023, Yune-Sang debut with the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra, performing Reinecke’s Flute Concerto in D Major.

Her artistry has been recognised with numerous accolades, including being a finalist in the 2023 Gala Concerto Competition, prizewinner at the Gisborne International Music Competition, and first prize winner at both the 2017 Tauranga Performing Arts Competition and the 2017 Performing Arts Competition Association New Zealand, earning her the title of ‘National Young Performer.’

She has received prestigious scholarships and grants from the Taurus Trust, Todd Trust Foundation, George Hopkins Woodwind Prize, and the Richard Giese Scholarship, and was twice awarded ‘First in Music Performance’ at the University of Auckland for achieving the highest marks in her cohort.

Camila De Oliveira – Piano

Camila De Oliveira is a Brazilian pianist and educator who began her musical journey at the age of six. Her passion for the piano blossomed into a lifelong dedication. Camila completed her undergraduate studies in piano performance at the Faculdade de Artes Alcântara Machado in Brazil. She later broadened her musical horizons with a Postgraduate Diploma and a Master’s degree in Piano Performance with First Class Honours from the University of Auckland in 2021.

Currently pursuing doctoral studies at the University of Auckland, Camila’s research focuses on ergonomically scaled piano keyboards. A passionate collaborative pianist, she has performed with the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra and is a founding member of the Auckland Chamber Music Collective. Camila also teaches piano and chamber music at the University of Auckland and has received awards including the Llewelyn Jones Prize in Music for Piano and the APO Aspiring Musician Scholarship.

In 2024, she presented a lecture-recital at the Australasian Piano Pedagogy Conference in Melbourne and in July 2025 she presented at the National Piano Keyboard Conference in Chicago. Her career reflects her commitment to both performance and education, as well as her dedication to fostering diversity and inclusion in music.
